On Sunday, July 11, twenty-two bowlers played two Games of 10 ends:
Team 1: Peter Smith / Michael Knight (16) -v- Team 2: Ron French / Adrain Woollard (4).
Team 3: Ian Revie / Pam Goodwin / Ron Senini (3) -v- Team 4: Joanne Townsend / Steve Davis / Rod Beamount (15).
Team 5: G. Harvey / Rod Tennant / Rita Hudson (4) -v- Team 6: Lou Brunello /Bev Harrop / Joan Mercer (9).
Team 7: Robyn Brunello / John Jones / Pam Staier (11) -v- Team 8: Mary Bacic / Lyn Davis / Jan Harvey (15).
Team 1(5) -v- Team 2 (14).
Team 3 (11) -v- Team 6 (6).
Team 4 (15) -v- Team 7 (5).
Team 5 (10) -v- Team 8 (5).
The winning team of the day was Team 4: Joanne / Steve / Rod.
In the Club Championship’s Men’s Singles, Ray Downing (25) defeated Ray Wicks (6). John Taylor (25) defeated Gordon Williams (20).
In the Championship’s Mixed Pairs, Peter Smith / Bev Harrop (32) defeated Toni and Gavin Buick (7). Ray Downing / Joanne Townsend (27) defeated Adrain Woollard / Val Zamora (9).
In the Championship’s Men’s Singles, John Taylor (25) defeated John Brown (13).
It was great to see three rinks of competition playing at the same time. The players enjoyed socialising after the games, to celebrate their wins or to drown their sorrows!
Also on Sunday, July 11, in the last game of Mixed Pennants, Innisfail defeated Tully and Silkwood defeated South Johnstone.
On Friday, July 9, the Combined Pennants Ladies’ Team of Tully / Silkwood / South Johnstone defeated Mossman at Mossman. At long last our Pennants are finished! Our Team came in third, behind Yungaburra and Bros Edmonton, second. There were eight teams in the competition, and we played home and away. Lots of games and travel! Very enjoyable!
