Building resilience in our primary schools

Students from Innisfail East Primary School were treated to an extra special visit from their Queensland Police Service (QPS) Adopt-A-Cop Police Liaison Officer (PLO) Stacey Kneubuhler on June 16.

PLO Kneubuhler surprised the kids by inviting former NRL North Queensland Cowboys and Maroon player Gavin Cooper to chat to them about the Resilience Project, a project that he says helped him build resilience during his time as an elite NRL player.

The project aims to help individuals by teaching them positive mental health strategies which can be used to build more resilience and ultimately become happier people.

The Adopt-A-Cop program, which helped facilitate the visit, provides an invaluable connection between police and local schools and the development of positive relationship within the local community.
